Alumnus Patrick Kirby ’12 Hired as Math Teacher for 2020-21 School Year

Patrick Kirby ’12 has been hired by St. Patrick Catholic High School as part of the Math Department.

After graduating from St. Patrick, Kirby attended the University of Southern Mississippi and attained a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences and a Masters in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Plant and Forest Ecology. Kirby’s research investigated the effects of hydrologic and edaphic (soil) characteristics on plant diversity in southern Mississippi pitcher plant bogs. Recently he completed an internship working in a plant breeding and genetics laboratory with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service.

“As an alumnus of St. Patrick, it is my mission to continue and strengthen the tradition of academic excellence and leadership,” said Kirby.

“I am confident that Mr. Patrick Kirby will be a great addition to our faculty.  As an alumnus, Mr. Kirby understands firsthand the excellent culture of our St. Patrick School and school family.  I look forward to having Mr. Kirby as part of our team,” said St. Patrick Principal, Dr. Matt Buckley.
