Announcing the Inaugural Bishop’s Bell Game
BILOXI, Miss. — St. Patrick Catholic High School is proud to announce a traveling trophy program with Sacred Heart Catholic High School’s football team beginning with this Friday’s football game at St. Patrick. The “Bishop’s Bell” is what is up for grabs and it formalizes a rivalry in what has become a big game for both Biloxi diocesan schools. The game starts at 7 p.m.
“Catholic education in our diocese has a wonderful and rich history. Coming together as Catholics to enjoy a football game is a great thing,” said Principal of St. Patrick, Dr. Matt Buckley.
The rich history of Catholic education in the Diocese of Biloxi is an important asset. Our schools create a sense of place for students, their families, faculty, staff, clergy, and alumni. Our schools foster an environment where education, intentional discipleship, recreation, and faith formation help develop successful Catholic youth.
St. Patrick head football coach, Trey Bailey said, “We are excited to be hosting this rivalry game against our fellow diocesan school, as well as providing an opportunity for our Catholic community to celebrate our faithfulness to Christ alongside the clergy of the Biloxi Diocese through the game of football.”
At St. Patrick and Sacred Heart we know that behind our continued success stand our self-sacrificing diocesan priests. Their dedication to the life of the Church is critical to the mission of Catholic education. Our diocesan priests give the gift of St. Patrick and Sacred Heart. As a way to honor and recognize the dedication of our diocesan priests, both schools have agreed to host an annual home and away football game.
Pre-sale keepsake tickets are available for a discounted rate of $5 in the St. Patrick front office. Paper tickets at the gate are $7. The Bishop’s Bell Game updates and information will be found on social media under the hashtag “#BishopsBellGame”.
About the Bishop’s Bell: This 85-pound, iron bell has been painted in the St. Patrick and Sacred Heart colors. The bell will find its yearly home at the winning school’s campus.
