Azar, Grill, Million, Pete and Swetman named National Merit Finalists
The National Merit Scholarship Program has now determined which of the 16,000 Semifinalists named in September 2018 have met all requirements to advance to Finalist standing in the competition. All Finalists will be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2019.
St. Patrick Catholic High School is proud to announce that Stephen Azar, Maximilian Grill, Amelie Million, Jordan Pete and Windfield Swetman have all been named National Merit Finalists. National Merit Finalists represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. The selection of some 7,500 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of Finalists is now in progress.
Azar is the son of Mr. Nabil Azar and Mrs. Rana Azar of Biloxi, and he is a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish; Grill is the son of Manfred Grill and Pamela Grill of D’Iberville, and he is a member of Sacred Heart Parish; Million is the daughter of Mr. Troy Million and Mrs. Odile Million of Ocean Springs, and she is a member of St. Alphonsus Parish; Pete is the daughter of Mr. Edward Pete and Ms. Kimberly Owens of Gulfport, and she is a member of St. James Parish; Swetman is the son of Mr. Windy Swetman and Mrs. Jon’elle Swetman of Biloxi, and he is a member of First Baptist Biloxi.
These academically talented high school seniors now have an opportunity to continue in the competition to be awarded one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.
