Bailey named MAC Athletic Director of the Year

Biloxi, Miss.- St. Patrick Catholic High School is proud to announce that Coach Trey Bailey has been named the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) Athletic Director of the Year for 2022-23. Coach Bailey has been the Director of Operations and Athletics at St. Patrick since 2020. Under his guidance, St. Patrick has claimed 9 State Championships, 9 State Runner-Up, 8 South State Championships, 9 South State Runner-Up, 21 District Championships, 5 All-Star Coaches, and numerous individual state championships, all-state, and all district selections.

Each varsity athletic team has qualified for the state playoffs throughout his time as AD, and every varsity program has qualified for the MHSAA Scholar Athlete Team award each year, with each team having a minimum 3.0 GPA. Under Bailey, the athletic department has grown, with program additions in Men’s and Women’s Powerlifting, Men’s Wrestling, Men’s and Women’s Bowling, and Archery (beginning in the 23-24 SY). Coach Bailey has also led the Fighting Irish department to back to back MHSAA All Sports Awards during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years, an award which recognizes the best overall athletic programs in each classification in the state.  “I am truly humbled to be awarded this honor, in particular due to the many prestigious names that have been recipients in the past, and recognize this is the culmination of the hard work of our coaches, teachers, and student-athletes,” Bailey said. “I am proud to represent St. Patrick as the recipient of this award, and look forward to our continued successes and growth at St. Patrick Catholic High School.”

Bailey is the first Catholic school administrator to win the MAC Athletic Director of the Year award since Roy Garcia (Natchez Cathedral) in 1996-97.
