Biology II students present findings on emerging viruses
Biology II students researched emerging viruses of their choice and presented their research to the class orally and in the form of a PowerPoint presentation earlier this semester.
Some of the emerging viruses chosen featured the deadliest in the world, including: Ebola, Dengue Fever, Lassa Fever, Hantavirus, Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, Hendra Virus, Monkeypox, and Zika, among others.
Students had to report on the reservoir of the virus, mode of transmission, morbidity and mortality rate, current mode of prevention, treatments (including current research into antiviral drugs used on emerging pathogens), and more.
