Bratton, Butirich sign to play baseball for MGCCC
On Friday, January 22, Beau Bratton and Blaise Butirich of St. Patrick Catholic High School signed to play baseball for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC). Bratton and Butirich are both seniors at St. Patrick this year and will be attending MGCCC on a full scholarship beginning this fall. They have both played varsity high school baseball since eighth grade at St. Patrick. In their four years playing baseball, they have each played an integral role in the success of the program, including two trips to the playoffs. After signing, all Bratton could say was, “It feels good,” as a big grin stretched across his face. Bratton has played catcher at St. Patrick and will most likely continue to so at MGCCC. Butirich has played both middle infield positions and has pitched. Upon signing, Butirich said, “It was a very special moment for Beau and I; we were very happy that all of our teammates were able to be present. Go Bulldogs!”
St. Patrick baseball coach Eddie Burger has coached both Bratton and Butirich for the past six years and has been the head coach of the St. Patrick baseball program for the past three years. “This is the ultimate high school athletic achievement. They have worked hard, and I am proud of how they have carried themselves on and off the field,” said Burger referring to the scholarship recipients. Both Bratton and Butirich would like to express their gratitude to their families, friends, and the staff of St. Patrick.
