Chris Collins selected as Scholar Athlete Award-Winner for National Football Foundation – Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter

On Wednesday, January 23, Chris Collins was selected as winner of the Scholar Athlete Award by The National Football Foundation – Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter.

Founded in 1947 with early leadership from General Douglas MacArthur, legendary Army coach Earl “Red” Blaik and immortal journalist Grantland Rice, the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame is a non-profit educational organization that runs programs designed to use the power of amateur football in developing scholarship, citizenship and athletic achievement in young people.

On the award, SPCHS Varsity Football Head Coach Jim Bloomfield said, “It’s been a true honor to coach Chris, and I am so very proud of him and his family. He deserves this award for his excellence in leadership and academics as well as his football accomplishments. Chris is a true representation of a student-athlete here at St. Patrick.”

“I’m honored to have received the Scholar Athlete Award from the National Football Foundation and to be given the chance to represent the school. I would like to thank Coach Bloomfield for nominating me for the award and for all the things he taught me, not only about how to be a great athlete, but also about how to be a great person.” – Chris Collins

Congratulations Chris!
