
Collins Aerospace Engineer Speaks to Engineering Class
Tyler Barney, an RF design engineer for Collins Aerospace, spoke with engineering students in Ms. Debbie Worrel’s class today at St. Patrick. Discussing radio frequencies and how he uses RF technology in unmanned solutions which include initial system design for customers, program planning and bidding, and radio testing and development.
Right now, Barney leads an industry committee, RTCA Special Committee 228 in developing the datalink standard for terrestrial-based control links for unmanned aviation in the United States. This committee works closely with the FAA to ensure safe, reliable, and practical solutions for the country.
Barney answered student’s questions about his job and about what they are studying this semester. Barney is married to Christine Lawson SP ’11, who spoke with science classes earlier this week.
