Biloxi, Miss. – October 18, 2017 – St. Patrick Catholic High School is proud to share that Elizabeth Van Horn, senior at St. Patrick, has been selected to attend the Future Women in Business Weekend hosted by Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis November 10-11, 2017.
To be eligible, a student must be a female high school junior or senior interested in business that has maintained a 3.4 or higher GPA. Only 30 students were selected to attend the conference. This will be an all-expenses-paid opportunity for Van Horn, who has achieved a weighted GPA of 3.9, an ACT score of 32 and maintains a professional photography business outside of her many extracurricular activities at St. Patrick.
On being selected, Van Horn said, “I am excited for this program because Washington University is my dream school and being selected to fly out on an all-expenses-paid trip to St. Louis is a huge deal for my family and me. While I’m there, I hope to learn both about Washington University’s business school and ways to better my photography business.” She also says, “I run a photography business called Liz X Van Photo. This is what I wrote my essay about for the conference so I most definitely owe a lot of this to my business and its success!”
Van Horn will experience a game-changing event designed for young women, by young women, discovering how to achieve business success from the women who are doing it every day through inspirational presentations and networking opportunities.
In closing, St. Patrick Catholic High School Guidance Counselor Elizabeth Wilkinson says, “Overall Elizabeth is a superb student who has the respect of both her peers and teachers. She is a hard-working, self-disciplined, self-motivated and mature young lady. She is an asset to St. Patrick Catholic High School.”
