Fighting Irish compete at Biloxi XC Invitational

On Saturday, September 19, the Fighting Irish Country team competed at the Biloxi XC Invitational at Biloxi High School. Both the boys’ team and the girls’ team ran
against other local high schools. Twenty-three teams in all competed in the meet.  Some of the teams competing were Biloxi, St. Stanislaus, Ocean Springs, Vancleave, Gulfport, and Pass
Christian High Schools.

Senior Ramsey Wagner, a standout runner in the state, finished first overall individually and junior Anna Clare Colson finished sixth place. The boys’ team did not qualify in the top five but that did not stop them from doing well, as indicated by senior Eric Million who ran a 17:48 time.

The cross country program has been successful in recent years, competing and winning several 3A state titles. The cross country program is led by Coach Tim McDaniel, a coach that has won many state cross country titles and is considered one of the best coaches in the state of Mississippi.

Senior Tyler Eschette said of the team, “I think the team is competing hard and I think both the guys and girls can win state this year.” Senior Eric Million said that he will “miss running with his XC family next year.” He also said that he thinks the Fighting Irish boys’ and girls’ team will pull out a win this year and take state.

The team has six more meets this year. For more information about our cross country teams, contact Coach Tim McDaniel.
