Fighting Irish defeat Heidelberg in second round of MHSAA playoffs
On Saturday, February 23, the Fighting Irish Varsity Men’s Basketball team played Heidelberg in the second round of the MHSAA playoffs for the State Basketball Championship. Their demonstration of teamwork and all of their hard work paid off with a victory over Heidelberg, the final score being 61-58.
It was a very entertaining and high-energy game for everyone involved. Windfield Swetman scored 22 points for the Irish, making him the highest scorer of the night. Jay Parker followed close behind him with 20 points scored, and Drew Roth behind him with 11 points and 6 rebounds. These players and others working together were vital for the Irish victory. The Irish basketball team will travel to North Forrest to compete in the third round of playoffs on Tuesday night at 7 p.m..
Carly Loftis, a senior at St. Patrick, commented, “It was great watching an amazing game where they worked together the whole time with such a close score the whole time. I’m very excited that the Irish came out on top!”
