Fighting Irish softball begins a new season this coming weekend

This Saturday, the Fighting Irish softball team will be opening their 2016 season. Come out and support the Lady Irish as they compete at their home field for their jamboree weekend game against Picayune. Emma Rae Castanedo says, “Picayune has a great softball team and Saturday will be a competitive day to play.” Join the Lady Irish once again at the Gulfport Sportsplex for Classic Weekend next Saturday as they finish up their pre-season.

The softball team is made up of eighteen players this season. The team received four new seventh graders onto the team this year: Quinlan Pisciotta, Chandler Wheeler, Jasmine Stawarski, and Emilee Nolte! There are two freshman, Anna Grace Castanedo and Sarah D’Aquilla. Anna D’Aquilla and Morgan Redmond are the two tenth grade pitchers that will be pitching for the St. Patrick softball team. Other sophomores playing this season include Raven Blackwell, Raylen Blackwell, Marrisa Hanley, Mackenzie Rodrigue, and Kirstin Walters. Juniors playing for the softball team include Anna Clare Colson, Morgan McCrea, and Olivia Allen. There are two returning seniors this year, Elizabeth Zorich and Emma Rae Castanedo. The team will play many of their softball games at home this year, which gives our fans plenty of games to attend!
