Fighting Irish Varsity Cheerleading Team celebrates year with banquet
On Thursday, March 7, the St. Patrick Fighting Irish Varsity Cheer Squad held its annual cheer banquet. Every year, at the end of the cheer season, the banquet is held to recognize those who had gone above and beyond during the season and to celebrate one more time as a team.
The Captain’s Award was given to Ella Sharp, and Emily Broussard received the Most Spirited Award. The Varsity Cheer Squad has won several awards and been recognized for many honors including Best Extreme Routine and Best Cheer at the 2018 Panama City Cheer Camp. Overall, they had a great season together with Ms. Jamie Hebert as coach and Mary Catherine Kalil, Payton Dedeaux, and Emily Broussard as captains.
Mary Catherine Kalil, a senior on the team, commented, “After cheering on the Irish for the past 6 years, it is bittersweet to see it come to an end. I’m so happy to have had made so many great memories and friendships along the way, and I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity.”
