Congratulations to the Yearbook staff and Mrs. Rigby. Seniors received their 'By the Numbers' on Thursday and our underclass enjoyed looking and signing theirs on Friday.

Thank you to the Student Council for the wonderful dinner at Half Shell Oyster House on Thursday evening. We enjoyed the delicious meal and the opportunity to be together.

Our band sponsored a delicious spaghetti supper on Wednesday, May 8. Art work from Mrs. Randall's seventh grade Enrichment class decorated the walls. Mr. Berino's Intro to Language seventh graders led the audience in prayer by saying 'Our Father' in French. Mrs. Sutherlin displayed some of the activities in which her students participate. The Music class, under the direction of Ms Strange, entertained us with rhythm. The band gave an outstanding performance. Several people won raffle gifts.

In their religion classes, students designed flags using pictures, sympbols, words, etc. to express their faith.

Ring Mass is one of the most special times at St. Patrick. Seniors present class rings to juniors. At Thursday's ring mass, Father Greg Barras blessed the rings after celebrating mass with the students and many parents.

St. Patrick parents are the very best! Thank you for subbing for us so that we could enjoy a delicious meal together, and for the scrumptious food! You even provided doggie bags!

Our faculty redeemed themselves by winning the volleyball game on Wednesday. They were defeated last week in basketball! Go Irish teachers!

Congratulations to the 7th grade class who sold the most raffle tickets. Their prize was a free dress day and a free lunch. Seventh graders enjoyed pizza, veggies, and cookies.

Students, parents, and teachers were treated on Wednesday morning to a free pancake breakfast in celebration of Catholic School's Week.

On Tuesday of Catholic Schools Week, students and teachers joined for a Living Rosary.

Mrs. Moon's Chemistry II class learned first hand about exothermic reaction when they created foamng pumpkins! First they carved their jack-o-lanterns, then combined 6% H2 O2, H20 (sorry, Mrs. Moon, I don't have subscript), yeast, and dish soap to create the foam.

The state swim competition is being held at Delta State University. Our swimmers will compete on Saturday, November 3.

For the second year, Coach Underwood selected a Scout Player of the Week (SPOW)--the defensive scout player that gives the best effort during the week preparing our offense for Friday night games. Last year Mrs. Randall painted a bulldog (named SPOW) donated by Melissa Polk and the bulldog was presented each week to the scout player that Coach Underwood selected, along with a coupon from Mugshots for a free meal. The selected player displayed “SPOW” on his locker for a week.

Cardiologist Dr. Antoine Rizk spoke to three Biology classes this week.

Two students in each grade are selected by the faculty as 'Students of the Month.'

7th grade students rotate each nine weeks, participating in Art, Music, Introduction to World Languages, and Reading/Study Skills. First nine weeks rotation students of Mrs. Randall, Miss Strange, Mr. Bernino, and Mrs. Sutherlin showed off their work and talents on Tuesday, October 2.

Mr. Clingon's 7th graders learned about mummies then created their own! Brains and hearts and other vital organs were carefully removed. . .then bodies were stuffed and wrapped.

Students were introduced to the 2012-13 Campus Ministry Team. In the Ice Breaker, a teacher from each grade was taken to jail. Student teams then competed to free their teacher. The Campus Ministry performed a skit to introduce the theme of the year: 'Public Enemy' based on Matthew 10:16.

Congratulations to the students who were selected by the faculty as 'Student of the Month.' Ms Liz Wilkinson, our Guidance Counselor, presented the students certificates following the Campus Ministry presentation.

Mrs. Moon's 7th grade science students participated in their first lab during the unit, 'What Is Science.' They mixed liquid starch, glue and water to make 'slime.' Some students took their slime home in zip lock baggies, so watch out parents, brothers and sisters. . . you may be 'slimed.' Mrs. Moon and her students think science really cool!

Mrs. Worrel's Physics class began the year with a problem solving lab. Their assignment/competition was to use teamwork to build the tallest freestanding tower using only the limited supplies provided by their teacher.

The City of Biloxi held its 29th Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Emily and Kaite Bodin and Taylor Doyle were recognized as nominees for the Youth Volunteer Award. The Interact Club was recognized as a nominee in the Youth Volunteer Group. Mrs. Renee McDaniel, Coach Tim McDaniel, and Ms Liz Wilkinson also received certificates of appreciation in the Education Volunteer category.

District Champs!

Several Interact Club members held an Easter Egg Hunt at the Children's Emergency Shelter. They hung a pinata, hid eggs for the children to hunt, played basketball and baseball with the children. They also presented filled Easter baskets to the children.

Students constructed a plant or animal cell from recycled materials then presented their cells to the class. Each student explained the function of each organelle in their presentations.

In preparation for studying Newton's Laws of Motion, Mrs. Moon's students are building, for the purpose of racing, mouse trap race cars. Mrs. Moon asks, 'Whose will go the furthest?'

On Saturday evening, sixth graders joined the 7th and 8th graders at a St. Patrick's themed dance. Parents were invited to tour the campus and meet the teachers at an Open House held during the dance.

Sixth graders from our partner schools visited our campus on Friday, March 2. The Campus Ministry planned activities thoughout the day to introduce the students to our school and to our many activities such as sports and clubs.

Players, parents, Coach Robinson and several invited guests enjoyed a delicious dinner together on Wednesday, February 29. The banquet was chaired by Dr. Heim who thanked the parents for contributing to this meal and to the meals for players before games.

It's Mardi Gras time! Thank you, parents, for the delicious food and fun decorations and throws!

7th grade science classes were given limited materials with the instructions to design and build a space craft capable of carrying and safely landing on Mars with a payload of a raw egg. Materials: 2 pipe cleaners, 2 styrofoam plates, 2 toothpicks, 4 cotton balls, a 6 inch piece of cardboard, a glue stick, and scissors.

The Junior High Student Council made Valentines' Day happier for seniors at the Gulfport Senior Citizens' Center on February 14. They presented flowers, entertained with music, and played games with seniors who were there. Thank you, Mrs. Seicshnaydre, for the pictures!

After researching the topic of tea, Mrs. Mohler's students and Mrs. Sutherlin's AP English class enjoyed a Valentine tea. Thank you to parents who contributed to our wonderful treats!

Members of the Golf Team who captured the state championship last spring received their rings or necklace. Coach Doug Stuart presented a ring to Mary Margaret Maddox and a necklace to Jessica Parker (Class of 2011). Chemistry II made foaming pumpkins for Halloween. They carved a minature pumpkin, then combined chemicals to create the foam.

Mrs. Moon's students learned about Newton's Laws of Motion by constructing a roller coaster using only the materials and marbles that Mrs. Moon gave them. The roller coast had to have loops and turns and the marbles had to successfully travel its length.

SADD Club members conducted a seat belt check for students entering the school parking lot. Students who were wearing their seat belts received a Taco Bell coupon for a treat.

Anatomy students tested the error of localization of tactile receptor to determine which areas of the skin contain the most receptors (are most sensitive to touch). The also plotted the location of eccrine sweat glands and through a chemical reaction of iodine, sweat, and starch, determined which locations of the body contain more sweat glands.

Interact Club members assisted the Rotary Club of Edgewater with their food and drink booth at the opening day of Cruisin' the Coast. Pictures are submitted by Mrs. Lawson.

The Interact Club walked and volunteered at the annual American Heart Assoc. Heart Walk in Gulfport held on October 1. Students handed out water and soft drinks to the participants, as our St. Patrick Cheerleaders cheered them on. In addition to volunteering, walking, and cheering, we also raised over $1150.00 in donations for the American Heart Association.

Mr. Creel’s eighth grade students have been studying the importance of monastic life. They learned that Catholic monks daily came in contact with the pagan people of the countryside that gave the monks many opportunities to share their faith. Monasteries, powerhouses of prayer and work, helped sustain the church. Students were required to design a monastery. They created blueprints with seventeen different required elements and they enjoyed being architects for a week.

Mrs. Moon's seventh grade Science classes constructed 3-D models of an atom. They used their models in presenting to their classmates, identifying how many protons, neutrons and electrons as well as telling the characteristics and uses of the atom.

Coach Underwood created a Scout Player of the Week (SPOW) award for the defensive scout player that gives the best effort during the week preparing our offense for Friday night games. Mrs. Randall painted a bulldog (named SPOW) donated by Melissa Polk which is presented each week to a scout player, along with a coupon for a free Sicily’s buffet (donated by Sicily’s). The selected player displays “SPOW” on his locker for a week.

Coach Rocconi said, 'The main purpose of clinic was to raise funds for our program, but it was also a great opportunity for moms of our football players to get to interact with our coaches.' August 9 is our first day. Welcome to all new and returning students. Let's have a great year.

Members of the Interact Club assisted Rotary Club of Edgewaterr with their 25th annual Children's Health Fair at Edgewater Mall in July.

Seventh graders and their parents picked up their schedules, then had the opportunity to go to each of their classrooms and meet their teachers. We are excited about having these new students at our school!

Students and parents moved closer to the first day of school when they completed the registration process on Thursday.

The Irish Emeralds will attend camp in Hattiesburg. On Friday, July 16, 2010, the Emeralds wowed their audience at Dress Rehearsal. Good luck, beautiful Emeralds, and their talented sponsor, Mrs. Leslie Rigby.
