An integral part of St. Patrick's mission is community service. Students in grades 9-12 perform 20 service hours a year and students in grades 7-8 accrue 10 service hours that are approved by their religion teachers. Many students go above and beyond their required hours. Members of St. Patrick clubs and organizations, such as Interact and Key Club, are also involved in service projects throughout the year.
Students Sarah North and Maddy Cuevas used their Thanksgiving vacation to help others. They took magazines, scissors, glue sticks, and picture frames to help the residents of Heaven's Harbor make a collage of happy pictures. They assisted the ladies in finding pictures, cutting them out, and gluing them on the paper. When they were finished, they viewed the ladies' rooms and talked with them about their art. The ladies enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the girls as much as creating the new art work for their rooms. Sarah and Maddy also took snacks.
On Tuesday morning Sarah and Maddy had a bakesale and made over $500 for an orphanage in Africa.
Pictured with Sarah and Maddy are Ms. Wilkinson and her mother, who is a resident of Heaven's Harbor.
