When Brittany Wilem and Kelsey Hymel's Chemistry Class displayed and presented their science fair projects in the library on Monday, February 28, they had fun with the two live Betta fish that were a part of Katie Bodin's project, "Battle of the Bettas." It didn't take long for them to decide that librarian Ms. Evans needed a pet for the library -- a Betta would be perfect!
Ms. Evans beamed when Brittany appeared before school on Tuesday with a tank holding a beautiful young blue female Betta. They decided to place the tank at the circulation desk so that everyone will be able to watch the fish and so that Ms. Evans will be able to enjoy her companionship while working at the computer.
"I am so grateful to Brittany and Kelsey for their thoughtful random act of kindness," shared Ms. Evans. "They certainly made me feel special--spending time and money on something to make me happy. Everyone will enjoy the fish -- students with Bettas are already sharing infomation on how to care for her! Now, she just needs a name. Any ideas?"
Brittany is pictured presenting the Betta to Ms. Evans and is standing before her science fair backboard. Brittany built the baby robot, "Miss Debbie," as a part of the Team Tempest Robot that will compete in New Orleans at the FIRST Bayou Regional competition later this month.
Students' projects are displayed in the library while they are making their presentations to Mrs. Worrel this week for their grade. Some students will attend the regional science fair at the coliseum later this month.
