Friday, 6 May 2011

Congratulations to our Girl's Golf Team and Coach Stuart!  The St. Patrick girls golf team won their fourth straight state championship Thursday, taking the Class 1 title at Whisper Lake Golf Course in Madison.  The journey to state began with 9 tournament wins and 2 second place wins.

St. Patrick shot a two-day total of 328. St. Andrews was second at 341, followed by St. Aloysius (367), Sacred Heart (381), West Union (403) and Kossuth (409).

Senior Jessica Parker paced the Lady Irish, shooting 83-79--162 for bronze medalist honors. Eighth grader Mary Margaret Maddox shot an 83-83--166 and senior Kortney Duvernay shot 89-92--181.

St. Patrick had a seven-stroke lead after Wednesday’s round, then withstood a front nine charge from St. Andrews on Thursday.

“I’m extremely proud of the girls,’’ St. Patrick golf coach Doug Stuart said. “This is our best season. We won nine tournaments this year, and had two seconds.’’
