Beau LeBatard Teaches Google SketchUp

Thursday, 16 February 2012

Mrs. Worrel's second period Physics students were introduced to Google SketchUp by Beau LeBatard.  A Mercy Cross graduate ('06), Beau is currently an intern architect at LDJ Architects in Biloxi.

Learning to use Google SketchUp, free downloadable CAD software, is a part of the Physics students' Sea Perch project. They have designed, constructed, and tested underwater robots. The students' first request of Beau was for him to teach them how to draw PVC pipe -- since the majority of robot's body is built of this.

“This is a complicated program utilized mainly by engineers and architects,” said Mrs. Worrel. “Introducing our students to this program provides them with valuable technological experience.” Mrs. Worrel has invited Beau to come back for a followup visit to see how the students are progressing and to answer any questions.
