Interact club participates in annual Heart Walk and Cruisin’ the Coast

Interact Club is a service based organization that encourages its members to go out and serve the community.  This weekend, Interact Club members were busy helping our community by participating in two major events, the Heart Walk and Cruisin’ the Coast.

On Saturday, the Interact Club members partook in the annual Heart Walk. The Heart Walk is a kickoff event sponsored by the American Red Cross that raises funds to help save lives against heart disease and strokes.   Members arrived at Jones Park in Gulfport bright and early to volunteer at the event. Several members passed out water and bananas to the crowd while others participated in the walk.  “I am so happy that the St. Patrick Interact Club is able to help out with this amazing event each year.  It is not only fun, but very rewarding as well,” explains Vice President Sofia Cooper.

The following day, the Interact club continued its involvement in the community with the Cruisin’ the Coast festivities. The club set up a booth at the Hardy Court Shopping Center parking lot where members sold hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks to the hungry cruisers. Everyone enjoyed the refreshments as well as the antique cars. President Jeanne Torp stated, “Getting to work Cruisin’ the Coast is so fun! This year was my second time doing it, and I really enjoy being able to raise money for Interact Club and getting to see all the cool cars at the same time!”

Congrats to the Interact Club sponsors, Mrs. Moon and Mrs. Lawson as well as the Interact Club members for completing two successful projects!
