On Wednesday, April 11, and Thursday, April 12, the Irish Emeralds dance team held their annual pre-tryout clinic for the 2018-2019 school year. The clinic consisted of stretching, across-the-floor exercising, and learning the choreography for tryouts on Friday. These two days were filled with leaps, jumps, kicks, and most importantly, excitement. Each girl worked hard throughout the clinic in order to prepare to perform well in front of the judges and earn her spot on next year’s dance team.
The Irish Emeralds dance team tryouts were open to upcoming 7th through 12th-grade girls. The team consists of around twenty members and performs during football season at both games and pep rallies. Elaborate routines are choreographed and performed in order to keep the crowd’s enthusiasm up. Team members also compete for a state title at a high school dance competition following football season.
This year, the Irish Emeralds will have Jessica Peters as their coach. Since this is her first year coaching for the Emeralds, she is more than ecstatic to lead the team. “I’m very excited to work with the upcoming Irish Emeralds dance team,” said Peters. “I’m hoping to lead these talented young ladies to a good season.” We are very excited to have such a talented coach for the team.
We wish the best of luck to all of the young ladies who tried out! We are so excited for yet another year of success from our dance team. Go Irish!
