JH Football Team advances winning streak to 4-0 with victory over McClain

“It was a display of Irish spirit and a determination to win,” said spectator Jonathan Lee of the St. Patrick Junior High Football Team’s 27-0 victory over the McClain Rams on Thursday evening. The game was packed with non-stop Irish action and true grit until the final whistle.

Head Coach Doug Petersen has led the team to their 4-0 winning streak so far this season. Coach Petersen is no stranger to success – as illustrated by the recently-installed poster, he led the team to a perfect 8-0 season last year. The team has been tirelessly practicing in hope of achieving this great honor again.

Seventh-grade Class President Vincent DeStazio (40) is a member of the JH team. He believed that the game on Thursday was a true representation of Irish pride. “We executed our plays and always strived for the extra yard. It was our first game kicking the ball, and I think we did really well,” said DeStazio of the win.

While not the turnout of the varsity games, those in attendance were rowdy and excited. “These young men showed leadership and strength beyond their years,” said Anna Grace Castanedo, a junior spectator, “while adding another victory to their undefeated winning streak. What the coaches and staff are doing in this program is remarkable, and it will be invaluable for these players as they continue into varsity football and beyond.”

The St. Patrick Junior High Football Team is halfway to another victorious season. You won’t want to miss a game from these guys this year – what they’re doing on the field is truly inspiring and encouraging for the future of the Fighting Irish. “We are trying to have another 8-0 season, and we’re on our way,” said DeStazio. “Next week we play Resurrection at home, and I think it will be a good match-up. But, as always, GO IRISH!”
