Lady Irish Softball coasts to 6-0 win against George County
The varsity St. Patrick Lady Irish softball team jumped out to an early lead against George County and captured a 6-0 victory on Tuesday.
The game was decided quickly as the Lady Irish exerted its will early with five runs in the first three innings.
An RBI double by Anna D’Aquilla and a bases loaded walk by George County in the second inning fueled the Lady Irish’s offense early.
Emma Castanedo paced St. Patrick at the plate. Castanedo went 2-3 and scored two runs. She singled in the third inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Lady Irish Sabrina Turner kept George County off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the mound. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out eight batters.
St. Patrick built upon its lead with three runs in the third. A bases loaded walk scored Castanedo to start the scoring in the inning.
