Lady Irish Volleyball Team Ends Season with Banquet

On Wednesday, November 1, the Saint Patrick Lady Irish volleyball team celebrated the end of their season with a banquet at Salute restaurant. The banquet featured a dinner, a speech from Coach Gruich to the team and their parents, an award ceremony and gifts for the seniors and the coach. It was a heartfelt moment for the team as this was the final event of the year with the senior members of the team. The 2017 volleyball team had four senior team members as well as a senior manager, making the event particularly emotional. Senior Adesyn Hall summed up the feelings that these girls experienced at the banquet. “It was amazing being with my team again but sad at the same time,” explained Hall. “I loved having a team that loves each other as much as we do. We aren’t just players on a team, we are forever friends.”

The entire volleyball team would like to thank Coach Allison Gruich for being such an extraordinary coach this season. Even though it was her first year as a volleyball coach, with her help the team grew together both in skill and in friendship. “I was a little nervous to coach at first because I am so close in age to the girls,” said Coach Gruich in her speech, “but I am so glad that I decided to do so.” During the season, she did everything she could to uplift the team and help them improve throughout the season. Even when the Lady Irish faced defeat in games, she never gave up on the team; instead, she saw these times as opportunities for improvement and encouraged the girls to be the best they could be. Her character truly helped build up each and every member of the team, and Saint Patrick is proud to have her as a coach. Thank you so much, Coach Gruich. The team cannot wait to return in the springtime to try out and prepare for a promising 2018 season. Go Irish!
