Lady Irish volleyball team triumphs in a nail biting win at home

Last night, the St. Patrick volleyball team competed against Vancleave High School. This was the first home game for the girls and expectations were high.

Senior varsity member Blair Doyle assured hopefuls, “We’ve been practicing all summer and we’re playing strong, so I know we can win this.” Doyle’s expectations were right on target. It was a nail-biting victory for the Lady Irish with the girls advancing onto four consecutive games.

The first game was a victory for the Irish, but was followed by a competitive neck and neck loss. With a need for three wins to consider themselves the champions, they had to win two more games in a row. The opposition was strong, but thankfully so were the Lady Irish who won both of the following games.

At the end of the fourth game the girls were declared the victors with the last point being a striking hit from junior Olivia Allen.

Performance along with expectation this year has consequently skyrocketed for our players. This win has prepped spectators for more victories throughout the year from the girls. The next task for the players will be a victory at Gautier High School on Tuesday, August 18 at 5:30. Come out and support the varsity and junior varsity teams in the endeavor! Congrats on your much deserved victory Lady Irish!
