
Leatherman ’21 Accepted to Mississippi State University Early Entry Veterinary Medicine Program
Isabel Leatherman ’21 has been accepted to Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. The Early Entry Program is a unique program of the Mississippi State’s College of Veterinary Medicine that allows high-achieving high school seniors to earn pre-approved acceptance into the College of Veterinary Medicine. Both Mississippi and out-of-state students are eligible for the program. Up to thirty positions are available each year, with about 120+ applications generally received for this highly competitive program.
The average GPA requirements for the early entry requirements are a 3.9 unweighted GPA and a 30 plus ACT score. The Early Entry Program Admissions Committee considers animal and veterinary experience, work experience, leadership qualities, and non-academic qualities.
Isabel has attended St. Patrick High School since seventh grade. She has been an honor student and active in many civic, diocesean, and school-wide organizations. Currently, she serves as a volunteer intern at the Center for Marine Mammal Research. Besides her academic and organizational involvement, Isabel has earned seven state championships, holds the school record for the most state championships held by an individual in school history, and holds multiple state records in Track and Field.
