We invite students to answer this question: If he was alive today, explain how Pierre Sieur le Moyne
d’Iberville, our founding father of Coastal Mississippi, would feel about our community’s response
to the COVID-19 pandemic?

Essays shall be limited to 250-300 words and must be typed, double-spaced, and use a font of Arial or
Times New Roman, size 12. The student’s first and last name, grade level, should be included on the
essay.

Essays should be combined and returned in one envelope from the school postmarked no later than Nov.
14, 2020 to be reviewed by our judging panel.

A judging panel will determine a first place and runner-up winner at each high school for Round 1.
For Round 2 judging, the first place winners from each school will be asked to read their essays at our
board meeting on Dec. 16 at the D’Iberville Town Green Building where an overall first, second, and third
place finalist will be selected.

The follow honorariums will be awarded: $100.00 for first place; $50.00 for second place; and $25.00 for
third place.
