Matthew Bisner and Mary Tubb nominated for MHSAA Lindy Callahan Scholar-Athlete Scholarship
Seniors Matthew Bisner and Mary Tubb have been nominated by the administration and faculty at St. Patrick Catholic High School for the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Lindy Callahan Scholar-Athlete Scholarship.
“The administration and faculty have nominated Matthew and Mary for the MHSAA Lindy Callahan Scholar-Athlete Scholarship based on their exemplary scholastic and athletic efforts. These students embody the mission of St. Patrick, and we are hopeful that both will be selected to represent our MHSAA region,” said Principal Buckley.
Sixteen students will be selected (two from each MHSAA geographic region) to receive a $1,500 scholarship on April 16, 2018 in Jackson.
On the nomination, Bisner said, “My nomination for the Lindy Callahan scholarship and award is an honor, and I look forward to representing my great school as an athlete and a leader. My representing an institution known for academic success and athletic excellence is a tall task, but I look forward to competing for yet another accolade in the St. Patrick name. My own athletic career in swimming has provided me the opportunity and the ability to learn from my teammates, my competitors, my coaches, and myself. It helped me to see that no matter where or who you are, if you keep an open ear and mind, there is always something to learn from those around you. That, I firmly hold, is the most beautiful gift to receive.”

He serves as the St. Patrick Catholic High School Swim Team Captain. This year, all swimmers on the team who competed at South State qualified for State in either an individual event, in a relay or in both.

A small sampling of her activities include Student Council, National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Youth in Government Club and Big Buddies among several others.
