Prayer service honoring Mary, Mother of God and Model of Holiness

On Friday, May 11, Mrs. Emily Cloud’s religion classes held a prayer service honoring Mary, leading up to Mother’s Day.

Students learned from the Gospel of Luke, telling the story of Mary’s perfect “yes” to God. Then, the group prayed for their Mothers and for all the special women in their lives, as well as all Mothers everywhere. Finally, students placed flowers at the feet of Mary and offered intentions.

Student Sarah Alexander participated in the service and said, “I thought that the prayer service was a really great way to give thanks to Mary and recognize her as the Queen of Heaven. It was also great to pray for our mothers who have sacrificed so much for us so that we can attend St. Patrick. I love my religion class because we are all so close and we can talk about God so freely. It is so nice that I can go to a school where I can talk about God and give thanks to him.”

This Statue of Mary was located at Mercy Cross High School until 2017.
