Sailing team informational meeting scheduled for tomorrow

An informational meeting for students who want to join the sailing team is scheduled for tomorrow, September 23, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Gulfport Yacht Club.  Students who are interested will be able to sign up at this time.  Students with any amount of sailing experience are welcome to join the team.  The team practices each Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until dark.  The primary goals of the sailing team are the following: develop sportsmanship, integrity, and interpersonal skills; instill in the students an interest and appreciation for the sport of sailing; develop new skills in boat handling and sailing for those who wish to compete; develop a respect for the sea and the environment; learn and incorporate good safety and seamanship; instill a sense of responsibility for the boats and equipment; and create a fun atmosphere in which the students want to participate.
