Sophomores prepare for the PLAN test

St. Patrick sophomores will take the PLAN text next Wednesday, January 13.  Below is a letter to parents of sophomores from St. Patrick guidance counselor, Ms. Liz Wilkinson.

Dear Parents:

Your sophomore will take the PLAN test on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.  Please make sure he/she has a good night’s sleep and eats breakfast that morning.  Also, please remind your child to bring two #2 pencils to school and a calculator.  Below is a list of the prohibited calculators for the test.

  • Pocket Organizers
  • Handheld or laptop computers
  • Electronic writing pad or pen-input devices
  • Models with a QWERTY (typewriter) keypad. Calculators with letters on the keys are permitted as long as the keys are not arranged in a QWERTY keypad.

The PLAN is a great way to prepare for the ACT college readiness assessment.  It covers the same subjects and gives your child and you an estimated ACT score.  The PLAN also lets your child know the following:

  1. If he/she is on track for college
  2. Points out his/her academic strengths and areas he/she needs to improve
  3. Helps your child find careers that match his/her interests.
