Congratulations to Principal Matt Buckley for being named the Administrator of the Year by the Mississippi State Association of Student Councils [MSASC]!
MSASC Executive Director Gayle Bentz said, “Mr. Buckley is an integral part of the MSASC advisory committee. His leadership is evident in his work with the committee in planning and implementing conferences and activities. He is also involved in the high academic achievement and success of St. Patrick Catholic High School faculty and students as well as very successful co-curricular programs.”
On winning the award, Principal Matt Buckley said, “I am both humbled and honored to receive the MSASC Administrator of the Year award. To develop the future leaders of our Church, nation, and state is, in my belief, one of the most integral purposes of secondary education. There is great value in participating in the Mississippi Association of Student Councils, and it is my privilege to be a part of this organization.”
Typically, administrators who show immense support for their student councils are selected for the award. SPCHS Student Council Advisor Amber Buckley said, “Last year, Matt was in full support of us hosting the state conference and gave us a lot of help throughout the process. He’s also allowed our student leaders to take a more active role by expecting them to email him our ideas (rather than me) as well as fill out event and fundraiser forms themselves. It’s not unusual for him to meet with student council leaders about upcoming events and possible activities without me present, pushing our student leaders to actually use me as an advisor rather than as their ‘doer.'”
SPCHS Student Council President Richard Springer said, “I am very honored and proud of Mr. Buckley for having received Administrator of the Year for the Mississippi Association of Student Councils. He is the most deserving principal in the state – he always works with our council in order to better the school community and gives us a lot of freedom to plan creative projects. He also often travels to conferences with us and helps us get around, for which we’re grateful. I can’t think of any person who deserves this award more than Mr. Buckley!”
Congratulations Principal Buckley!
