SPCHS Quiz Bowl Team looking forward to season
On Monday, January 28, the St. Patrick Quiz Bowl Team competed at St. Stanislaus, which was the second competition of the year. Quiz Bowl consists of the teams answering 20 questions each round, with three rounds in the whole match. If the question is answered correctly in the round, they are given four bonus questions to answer as a group in 20 seconds.
The teams facing each other are randomly chosen the day of the competition. Then, it comes to an end with a lightning round that is between the two top teams, which are picked based on wins that are accumulated throughout the match. The St. Patrick team won its first match, and they are hoping for more throughout the season. The team will host a match on February 11, welcoming several schools to campus for competition. The next match our team will compete in is on on February 25 at 5:00 p.m. at Long Beach.
Hayden Miller, a member of Quiz Bowl, commented, “It was a fun match. We didn’t end up winning this week, but we’ll come back next week.”
