SPCHS Student Council members attend Southern Association of Student Council (SASC) Conference

Last Friday, five members of SPCHS Student Council set out for the annual Southern Association of Student Council (SASC) Conference. The students that attended were Jamie Stanovich, Amelie Million, Dale Edwardson, Quinlan Pisciotta and Rachel Vivian. This year’s conference was held in Charleston, South Carolina, and was themed “Operation: Leadership.”

The conference focused on the importance of how to make an impact in the delegate’s own communities. Throughout the weekend, students listened to many motivational speeches, attended many workshops, and gathered new ideas to bring back to the respective student councils.

Senior Amelie Million said,”I had such a great time at SASC this past weekend. We were given the opportunity to hear some really great speakers and to meet a lot of new people. The conference gave us good ideas that we hope to bring back to St. Patrick.”

St. Patrick has attended SASC for many years and Dale Edwardson attended for the first time this year. He said, “SASC was truly amazing. I loved getting to make friends all across the country and getting to know some of my peers better. The conference was very inspiring, and I feel changed as a person. I plan to not only make myself change for the better, but also to bring back some of the ideas from other schools to make our school even better. From the great speakers, to the great people; the conference was a wonderful experience.”

The student council members who attended this conference learned many lessons that they will carry with them for a long time and change their community for the better.
