St. Patrick Catholic High School Announces The Thomas Patrick LeTard Sr., MD Scholarship Fund

BILOXI, Miss. – Today, St. Patrick Catholic High School announces that it will offer applications for the Thomas Patrick LeTard, Sr., MD Scholarship Fund in the amount of $500 for a current St. Patrick student who is a member of the robotics team or involved in other STEM-related activities.

The scholarship honors the life of Dr. Thomas LeTard, Sr., who was a long-time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and served many as an anesthesiologist. The gift is made by his wife, Mrs. Martha LeTard SH ‘79, as a scholarship fund. The scholarship fund is open to gifts with a goal of reaching $50,000 in honor of Dr. LeTard.

“My husband was not Catholic when I met him. He became Catholic when I was expecting our second child. Catholic education became so important to him after. Specifically the formation of our children through Catholic education,” said LeTard.

Dr. LeTard was an active member of the St. James Catholic Church and greatly enjoyed playing drums with his church worship band, On A Wing And A Prayer, as well being a member of the Gulf Coast Gridiron Club, Gulfport Wine Society, the ElliptiGO Century Club and served on the board of the Gulfport Yacht Club as Fleet Surgeon.

“Three of our children graduated from St. Patrick – I went to Sacred Heart. This just made sense to advance Catholic education at St. Patrick,” said LeTard.

“It has been a true joy to get to know Dr. LeTard.  He made a positive difference in the lives of so many people, and his legacy will forever continue through the Thomas Patrick LeTard, Sr., MD Scholarship Fund. We remain eternally grateful to Mrs. LeTard for her unwavering support of St. Patrick and of Catholic education,” said Principal Dr. Matt Buckley.

Eligibility for the scholarship will be also based on demonstrated financial need in addition to STEM-related interests. Interested students should apply by filling out an application by clicking here.
