St. Patrick cross country: state championship, state meet results, all-state recognition
On Saturday, November 5, on the rugged 3.1 mile terrain of the Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi, the St. Patrick girls cross country team set out on yet another great mission to conquer the State Championship!
Under the skilled leadership of Coach Tim McDaniel the team’s aggressiveness and desire to achieve shown bright. With arch-rival Choctaw Central out to reclaim the title the Lady Irish stood strong. Top runners from fifteen teams throughout the state were all in attendance. The Lady Irish were led in the victory by eighth grader, Isabel Leatherman with a second place silver medal finish. Following Leatherman through the finish chute was a sea of green jerseys. The finish chute filled quickly with Jordan Pete, Gabriela Patino, Anna Clare Colson, Amelie Million, Quinlan Pisciotta, Julia Hancock, and Beyla Bleichner. Since the inception of St. Patrick just ten years ago, the Lady Irish Cross Country teams have claimed seven state championship titles and two runner-up titles.
For the varsity boys team, the Irish performed very well also and finished in eighth place at the state meet. The Irish were led by Cade Meyers with his fifth place finish. Rounding out the top finishers for the team were Austin Dossett, Dylan Middleton, Jack Dent, Griften Broussard, Jack McKee, and Spencer Wingfield.
Additionally, the prestigious selection to the all-state team is bestowed to the top fourteen runners in the state of Mississippi. Within 3A teams throughout the state, St. Patrick had five cross country runners earn this recognition. The award was based solely on their personal times at state competition. Congratulations to the following student athletes: Anna Clare Colson, Gabriela Patino, Isabel Leatherman, Jordan Pete, and Cade Meyers.

Congratulations to both St. Patrick cross country teams for a great season! A special thanks also goes to assistant coaches Byan Leatherman and Alise Alexander for their countless hours of assistance.
