St. Patrick cross country team wins again
The Watson Invitation in Clinton, Mississippi, was the sight of this past cross country meet for the St. Patrick Irish. A cool crisp fall morning was the perfect setting for our Lady Irish as they posted another first place win. Our division consisted of fifteen teams from a four state area with 119 runners in the girls division and 132 in the boys.
With little intimidation and sheer determination, the St. Patrick girls finished on top in a definitive win. Months of training are paying off. Senior, Ramsey Wagner, with a time of 18:56 was in a race all by herself as she finished first out of the 119 runners. Finishing third in the race, Anna Clare Colson, with a time of 21:10 added to the victory. Out of the top fifteen runners in the girl’s division St. Patrick claimed six spots. These times clinched the victory for the team: Isabel Leatherman 21:30 (sixth place), Gabby Patino 21:45 (eighth place), Jordan Pete 22:20 (thirteenth place). Slightly behind these runners our remaining teammates followed suite.
In the boy’s division, personal records were set by many of our runners. Eric Million, a senior, continues to push ahead and finish in the top 10 consecutively week after week. Of the 132 boys racing Eric finished ninth with a time of 18:25. The boys’ team continues to make tremendous strides week after week.
With less than thirty days left in the season the St. Patrick Cross Country team continues to work hard and prepare for the State Championship meet on November 9. Go Irish! Keep up the great work!
