Students and staff celebrate a new school year at “We Go Together” back to school dance

The high school students and staff of St. Patrick Catholic High School came together for a back to school dance this past Saturday.

The dance theme, decided by the Student Council, was “We Go Together.” The theme inspired students to step out and debut their best couples and group costume ideas. Creativity ultimately came through with the students’ costumes, as many thought outside of the box. Many different costumes were proudly presented, and a few examples included the Spice Girls, Crayola Crayons, Mario Kart characters, Riverdale River Vixens, and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Dancing in the dark with a wicked DJ, many students seemed to dance their cares away. As modern pop songs were played with a mix of throwback jams, the student body had a great time.

While the themed students danced away, the chaperones did as well. Ms. Wilkinson and Mrs. Lawson definitely had their fair share of fun as they danced in the teacher’s ticket booth.

The Back to School Dance is a student favourite, but it’s also a time for us to boogie. Next time we ought to sing karaoke. – SPCHS Guidance Counselor Liz Wilkinson

Many students participated in the dance, which greatly impacts dance decorations and details later in the year. The Homecoming dance is majorly funded by the back to school dance, so student attendance is imperative. Although there are many more fundraisers for the highly anticipated dance, the back to school dance seems to grasp a larger student audience.

The back to school dance cultivates quite an audience each year. The St. Patrick students and staff alike sure do know how to boogie!
