Students embark on Pathways 2 Possibilities expo

On Thursday, November 15, the Class of 2023  took a day off from their regular classrooms and went to the Pathways 2 Possibilities Expo at the Coast Coliseum. The expo highlighted different careers and occupations that students can go into. As the eighth graders are nearing high school next year, many of them are conflicted with the age-old question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

Chaperone and Technology Foundations Teacher Ms. Gryder spoke on the event, saying, “It’s important to introduce different fields and possibilities to the students now so that they can plan ahead as they approach high school. I think the expo did a great job of this, and students were able to get a deeper grasp.”

Many vendors and businesses from different types of careers were there to answer any questions that the students had. From agriculture to cuisine, students explored and participated in many activities including holding newborn chicks, mixing different flavors of popcorn, and everything in between.

Mia Sharp spoke on the event, saying, “I didn’t realize how many careers and endless opportunities there were to choose from. I had a lot of fun at the different booths and activities that we could do, and it was cool to apply what we learn in the real world.”
