Students try out for SPCHS Cheerleading teams

On Friday, March 15, tryouts were held for the Junior High and Varsity Fighting Irish Cheerleading teams. Every year, clinics are held throughout the week before tryouts to help the athletes prepare and learn everything they need to know.

In order to try out, the girls must know a specific dance and cheer and must be able to tumble and showcase their best jumps. Also, prior to the actual tryout, all of the girls are put into stunt groups on their respectives team, and they are expected to be able to hit an extension lib at tryouts.

This year, the Junior High team went first, and then the Varsity performed at tryouts. All of the cheerleaders are very talented and hardworking, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish this year!

Olivia Williams, a varsity cheerleader, commented, “Being an Irish Cheerleader has always been so fun and rewarding! I can’t wait for another year of cheer, and I look forward to making many new memories and friends along the way.”
