Swim team dominates meet at eFitness
On Tuesday, October 6, the Fighting Irish Swim Team hosted a final meet before South State against Pascagoula and Vancleave. This meet was a very low key meet that gave swimmers one final chance to have a qualifying time for South State.
Despite the dropping temperatures, the Swim Team braved the cold with determination to drop times in their individual events. Each member strived to improve their time to have a good time and improve for South State. Personal records were set by Sam Hewes 50 yard freestyle and Jeanne Torp in the 100 yard freestyle.
Senior, Kathleen McMackin said that the team did an excellent job of “sweeping away the competition and dominating the meet.”
Sam Hewes thought that the meet went really well and everyone tried really hard. He also stated that “the team is looking really good for South State next weekend.”
The Swim Team has come a long way this year and has seen great improvement with all members. The swimmers hard work and dedication to their team was definitely noticed by all the accomplishments they have received throughout the season, hopefully with more to come at South State.
Congrats again to the Swim Team, the meet was a success and their season as a whole was extremely successful. We wish them the best of luck as they next take on South State on October 17.
