Team Tempest hosts FIRST Tech Challenge Regional Qualifying Tournament

On Saturday, January 19, St. Patrick’s Team Tempest participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge regional qualifying competition, which was held at the school for the sixth time. The team was one of the few to advance to the Mississippi Championships. Team Tempest has completed four tournaments and has two more to go. The next competition will be in Senatobia and the following in Pascagoula.

Team Tempest has worked hard all year to create a unique and efficient robot to compete in tournaments with other teams from across the nation. This robot has to successfully complete different tasks assigned and go head to head with other creative technological inventions.

Club Sponsor Ms. Debbie Worrel says, “Congratulations to Team Tempest Robotics who, this weekend, won the FTC Tournament and will advance with this robot to Ole Miss for the State Championships in February! Our drivers William Reid and Thomas Owen, and Coach Todd Fayard did an excellent job leading our robot to an undefeated semi-finals and final rounds! All members of robotics need to be commended for their hard work on Friday and Saturday,  which led to a very successful event for our school.”

Good luck to Team Tempest on its upcoming tournaments!
