Team Tempest receives Motivate Award at the FIRST Tech Challenge State Competition in Oxford
On Friday, February 22, members of Team Tempest travelled to Oxford, Mississippi, to compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge State Competition. Twenty five teams competed for the State title, and those who placed will then travel to Houston, Texas, for Worlds Competition. The competition was a great way to meet other teams and to learn new and alternative techniques to program and build the robot.
Team Tempest President Mary Catherine Kalil said, “It was an honor to receive the Motivate Award at the FTC State Competition in Oxford. Being able to interact with 25 teams from around the State was an experience like no other.”
The team received the Motivate Award trophy, which defines a team that shows a collective effort to be role models of FIRST by sparking interest in our partner school students, in our own student body, and in our community. The interest includes embracing Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Team Tempest will now move on to Bayou Regional in March with the FIRST Robotics Competition robot.
