The Foundation of St. Patrick presents $75,000 to St. Patrick Catholic High School

During the final home varsity football game of the season last Friday, October 19, members of The Foundation of St. Patrick presented a gift of $75,000 to St. Patrick Catholic High School Principal Dr. Matt Buckley. Since its founding in 2016, the Foundation has given $150,000 to SPCHS in support of its mission to promote the interest, welfare, and success of St. Patrick Catholic High School. In addition to these funds, the Foundation also has $55,000 in a perpetual fund. The Foundation was incorporated in 2016 as a tax-exempt entity under Section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The goals of the Foundation include tuition assistance, free transportation to and from the school, teacher bonuses and more.

“In the next five years, I would hope that the Foundation has expanded its donor base beyond to Gulf Coast and into the national Catholic philanthropic circle of supporters. I would hope that at some point we would be able to fill the school with tuition-supported students. We also want to continue supporting and retaining the best teachers!” — President of The Foundation of St. Patrick Vincent Pisciotta

While the school itself is less than 11 years old, St. Patrick continues the heritage of Catholic values and excellence in education on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1875. St. Patrick combines the proud traditions of St. John High School, Mercy Cross High School, Sacred Heart School for Girls, and Notre Dame School for Boys. Many of the students are second and third generation Catholic school scholars.

“I believe that the Foundation is filling a need to help secure the future of Catholic education in our community. By investing in a perpetual fund, we hope to enable the school to not just survive but to thrive and to anticipate necessary changes to remain competitive in all aspects of a student’s development. I hope to see further monetary commitments to the Foundation. We need to increase the number of contributors both large and small. Money raised is put directly back into the school to offset costs of transportation and financial aid as well as to reward our teachers for their dedication to our children and our faith. Over time we hope to grow this Foundation to a point that the cost of a Catholic education in our community is not a deterrent to any parent deciding what is best for their child.” — Michele Pisciotta, The Foundation of St. Patrick board member

The Foundation has enlisted the services of Hancock Whitney Bank to best advise and manage the perpetual fund. With respect to the working fund, the contributions will be held in an interest bearing account used to support the objectives of the Foundation in coordination with the administration at St. Patrick.
