The St. Patrick Fighting Irish Swim Team fights hard to win swim meet at the Biloxi Natatorium

The St. Patrick Catholic High School Swim Team competed in a meet last Wednesday, September 19, at the Biloxi Natatorium. High schools that competed include Biloxi High School, Vancleave High School and St. Patrick Catholic High School.

It was a small but challenging meet, and the SPCHS Fighting Irish finished in a top spot. Swimmers in seventh through twelfth grade participated in this swim meet and showed off their swimming skills. There are several different events  during a meet, such as the Men/Women 200 free, Men/Women 50 free, Men/Women 100 free, and more that the students raced in.

While the girls fell short in achieving first place, the boys fought strong and were awarded first place from their efforts. Many swimmers beat their personal records such as Claire Weatherly, Chase Vivian, Annie Torp, Gavriella Persing, Sofia Carreon, Alex Moore, Sophia Piscottia, Joseph Agler, and more. Clayton Stoddard won the 50 freestyle and Christian McKee won the 200 Individual Medley.

Coach Beth McMackin was proud of her team as always, but she continues to push the swimmers to strive for their maximum potential.

“I really enjoy swimming with my talented teammates, representing our school while competing at a high level.” – Clayton Stoddard
