This Week at St. Patrick – Week of August 29

Good Evening, My Friend!

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend.  We are looking forward to another excellent week here at St. Patrick.

By now, hopefully you have received your book of Luck of the Irish Raffle tickets in the mail. We are excited to launch our 2022-23 Luck of the Irish Raffle presented by C.F. Gollott & Son, our school-wide fall fundraiser!  The Luck of the Irish Raffle supports all of our athletic teams and student activities at St. Patrick.

Our goal for the 2022-23 school year is to raise $150,000 through the Luck of the Irish Raffle. To accomplish this goal, we are counting on each student to sell at least 1 booklet of tickets (10 total tickets). When you sell a booklet, your hard work provides resources for nearly 50 different programs at St. Patrick.

Every student and staff member who sells a booklet of tickets will be allowed to dress in spirit wear (St. Patrick shirt, jeans, and any closed-toe shoes) every Friday throughout the school year.

Let’s start selling now! Tickets are $20 each, and a lucky $1,000 winner will be drawn each month from October through May.  Each month, the winning ticket remains in the drawing, so those who purchase tickets have a chance to win up to $10,000.  Our first drawing will be Friday, October 7, so get your tickets turned in to the front office by October 5 so they will be included in the first drawing.  Tickets may also be purchased online at stpatrickhighschool.net/irishraffle.  If you need additional tickets to sell, please give us a call or stop by the office.

Congratulations to Mrs. Renee Dellenger for receiving the 2022 Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grant! Our faculty at St. Patrick are among the best in the profession, and we are very proud to have Mrs. Dellenger teaching Accounting and Personal Finance. Check out the full story here.

Get excited!  All the details about Homecoming 2022 are coming soon. Look for an email from me very soon with all of the events and activities we have planned. Vie Vie!

Training disciples is the core of our mission at St. Patrick! This Friday will be our first Irish Provinces session for the 2022-23 school year. Thank you to Mrs. Cloud and our Campus Ministry Team for leading this effort. Our students, faculty, and staff will meet for a large-group session as we reveal our theme for the year. Then, everyone will break into small groups for discussion about faith formation, spirituality, discipleship, and service. Our goal is for each of us to continue to grow in our faith so we may be equipped to share our faith with others. Our plan for Irish Provinces is to help fulfill our school’s overall mission by empowering our students, faculty, and staff to know, love, and serve the Lord.

Our fall sports and activities are in full swing. See the section below for information on many of our teams and clubs. I encourage all of our students to get involved. I remain proud of our fall athletic teams as they continue to excel in football, volleyball, dance, cheer, band, cross country, and swimming. Very proud of the Fighting Irish!

Our campus will be closed on Monday, September 5, for Labor Day. Classes will resume and offices will reopen on Tuesday morning. Enjoy your three-day weekend.

Thank you for your love and support of our school.  I look forward to seeing you around campus this week.

Go Irish!
Dr. Matt Buckley
Principal

Isaiah 26:3: You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

While it is naïve, on one hand, to think that trusting in God makes all of our problems go away — Christians have many of the same problems that unbelievers do because they share the same mortal flesh, on the other hand it’s true. If we trust in God, we believe our work stands or falls in his hands and that ultimately we will share in his victorious and glorious presence. It means our lives will not be lived in vain. That’s not just confidence; it’s the foundation of true peace — life lived to its fullest and richest, knowing that every moment of life matters and we don’t need to be anxious about its results when we rest our life in the hands of the Lord.

Almighty Father of Peace, thank you for giving me the assurance that my life will not be lived in vain. May I share that peace with others today. In the name of Jesus, my Prince of Peace, I pray. Amen.

Is it such a joy working with you and your child as we share this educational journey to high school graduation. Please know we are always here for you, so please reach out if you ever need anything.

It is important for all students to be present at school as often as possible. We understand, however, that situation arise which may cause a student to be absent. To receive a prior approved excused absence for being absent from school, parents should submit the Request for Prior Approval of Absence Form. Students are responsible for making up all lessons and assignments missed when absent from class – teachers are available to assist.

Please remind your child of the importance of being fully attentive and focused during their instructional periods so they may receive the most out of what is being presented. The teaching and learning process is so dependent on cooperation and collaboration and it is essential that all parties bring their best to the experience.

Also, if your child needs additional help in a course, please contact your child’s teacher or look at the tutoring and remediation portion of the syllabus to see when your child’s teacher is available for remediation.

Parents and students are reminded that homework for each of their courses should not take more than thirty minutes for the average student per night. If you are seeing extreme circumstances regarding your child completing their homework assignments, please contact the teacher for that course and share your concerns with him or her.
