Tyler Jackson and Richard Springer named National Merit Finalists

St. Patrick Catholic High School seniors Tyler Jackson and Richard Springer have been selected as Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program for 2018. These academically-talented high school seniors now have an opportunity to continue in the competition to be awarded a National Merit Scholarship, which will be offered March 2018.

In October of last year, the St. Patrick Class of 2018 took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, or the PSAT/NMSQT. Out of about 1.6 million high school seniors from around the United States, 16,000 became National Merit Semifinalists based on their academic performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. The National Merit Scholarship Program has now determined which of the 16,000 Semifinalists named in September 2017 have met all requirements to advance to Finalist standing in the competition.

Jackson is the son of Mr. Gary Jackson and Mrs. Linda Jackson of Gulfport; and Springer is the son of Mr. Rick Springer and Mrs. Kathy Springer of Biloxi, and he is a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
