William Carey professor speaks to AP literature classes
Dr. Glenn Swetman, Writer in Residence at William Carey University and widely published poet, recently shared his knowledge during a lecture for Lucy Sutherlin’s AP English Literature and Composition class at SPCHS. Dr. Swetman was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Concerning Carpenters and Childhood Saints and Other Poems. He recited and discussed several of his poems and answered questions from students. Students had just completed a unit on poetry, so they were especially interested in the methods a poet uses in deciding on topics and methods of choosing how he writes his poetry.
