lease see the following information in regards to a service opportunity.
My name is Meredith Beal, and I am a coordinator for Night to Shine, a prom for individuals with special needs sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and hosted locally by Woolmarket Baptist Church. I am reaching out to schools and volunteer organizations across the Mississippi Gulf Coast to share information about this amazing event and to invite adults, athletics teams, and students (a wonderful opportunity to log up to 6 community service hours) to volunteer.
Night to Shine is a worldwide celebration honoring individuals with special needs. Hosted by churches and organizations around the globe, this unforgettable prom takes place on the Friday before Valentine’s Day. This year, our event will be held on Friday, February 12, 2027, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Volunteers are asked to arrive before 5:00 p.m. so that everything is ready when our guests of honor arrive.
There are many ways to get involved, including serving as a buddy for a guest of honor, paparazzi, karaoke volunteer, and more. Our greatest need is for buddies, who accompany guests throughout the evening as they enjoy activities such as hair and makeup, flower and shoe-shine stations, dinner, dancing, karaoke, and limo rides.
We encourage volunteers to wear formal attire if they have it, but dressy clothing is also perfectly fine. Dress pants, shirts, and ties are appropriate options, as are dressy dresses and other nice outfits. We simply ask that volunteers avoid jeans, shorts, and T-shirts.
Last year, we welcomed approximately 250 guests of honor and 400 volunteers. Even with that incredible number of volunteers, we still needed additional help! Our event continues to grow each year, and we are preparing for another record-breaking celebration. Night to Shine is an incredible opportunity to serve others, make meaningful connections, and be part of something truly special. Everyone leaves with tired feet and full hearts!
We will hold a volunteer meeting in January before the event and will share the date as soon as it is finalized. We strongly encourage new volunteers to attend.
Please note the following participation requirements:
Volunteers under age 18: A parental release form is required. Forms are available through our event website.
Volunteers age 18 and older: A background check must be on file with Woolmarket Baptist Church. A link to complete the process is available through our event website.
Student volunteers can earn up to six community service hours for their participation.
